Things to do near Shieldaig, from the Torridon Munros to hidden beaches and the Badachro Inn, this stretch of coast rewards a bit of exploring. Walking, hiking and wild swimming are all within easy reach of the steading, from a full day on the hills to a quieter stroll along the shore.
The Fairy Lochs trail starts alongside the Steading and makes for a good half-day out, climbing into the hills above Loch Gairloch to a scatter of remote lochans. For something on the water, Shieldaig Lodge also runs kayaking trips across the loch, a fine way to see the seals and otters that live along this coast. And the Badachro Inn, a few miles along the water, is well worth the walk or drive — a proper Highland pub with fresh seafood and a view worth lingering over.
